Tomorrow we will be unloading 8/4 Maple, 4/4 Maple, Poplar and Red oak from our kilns. Several have asked me about the 8/4 Maple, we plan on unloading first thing in the morning so it should be ready right after lunch. The 8/4 Walnut in the kiln will not be ready for another 10 - 15 days. We sawed up 3000 bf of poplar and 2000 bf of cherry this week.
It has been a busy holiday weekend! We now have more coffee tree and Elm ready to go. This is the first Elm I have cut and I planned a sample board and it's really nice!
Plenty of 8/4 cherry in stock now!
8/4 Coffee Tree in Stock now.
over 2000 bf of 4/4 Maple back in stock.
Within the next 10 to 15 days we will have 8/4 Walnut, more 4/4 red oak, 8/4 maple.
We are back to sawing, turned out a lot of sycamore today and a "little" of it quarter sawn. All afternoon has been sawing cedar. We will be here this Friday and all weekend, my guys will be off Thanksgiving day. I live here so I will be out here anyway "until" time to eat which for us is 5 pm, so if you want lumber Thanksgivings day call me!
We have had several requests for locust lumber, yesterday we got 2 really nice logs in. It will be a few weeks before we start on them. I wondered if anybody has a special request before we start sawing?
Well.........Looks like both kilns are going to be ready to unload this Thursday! We will have Cherry, Walnut, Maple, Elm, Coffee Tree, and 8/4 elm and 8/4 Cherry and more slabs. We are expanding into the barn siding and fence boards area and expect to have 3000 to 5000 board feet within the next two weeks. A lot of this will be priced at .80 cents a bf!!!!!!!!
On another note I just got back from Wood Mizer's headquarters in Indy after hauling our saw up there. I had a new motor put on it along with several other adjustments. It was an all day event but it runs like a mad man! Before it took us a minute and 4 seconds to saw through a 20" oak log 8' long, now we can do it in 28.4 seconds!!!!
We are sawing up more white oak on the 4/4 scale and 8/4 scale. We are thinking about getting a 4 sided surface/molder machine to plane out and finish your lumber, into molding, S4S, S2S, whatever you need, do you think there is any interest out there? Give me some feedback.
